A Legacy of Trust, A Future of Excellence
In a fast-changing and highly competitive world of real estate , where new agencies come and go, longevity speaks volumes. ERA Cayman Islands isn’t just another name in the business —it has become one of the cornerstones of Cayman’s property industry. With over two decades of experience, a team of dedicated professionals, and an unwavering commitment to integrity and ethical standards, this boutique agency has built a reputation that extends far beyond the islands’ shores.
At the heart of its success are brokers Jeanette and Robert Totten, whose leadership has shaped ERA Cayman Islands into a trusted name for buyers and sellers alike. Their vision has always been clear: to provide not just real estate services, but a level of care and expertise that turns transactions into lasting relationships.
“We don’t measure success by the number of properties we sell but by the experiences we create for our clients,” says Jeanette Totten, who has served six terms as president of the Cayman Islands Real Estate Brokers Association (CIREBA). “I want every client, at the end of the process, to feel that their agent went above and beyond their expectations.”
A culture of trust and connection
More than a business, ERA Cayman Islands operates like a family. Associate Broker John Pohlmann, who has been with the company from its early years, believes this sense of camaraderie is one of the agency’s greatest strengths.
“We’ve faced a lot together — COVID, personal losses, illnesses — but through it all, we’ve had each other’s backs,” John reflects. “We’ve had very low turnover, and that’s no accident. It’s a family atmosphere, and that has been purposefully cultivated.”
This deep-rooted culture of trust extends to every client relationship. Whether guiding first-time buyers, assisting seasoned investors, or marketing luxury estates, ERA Cayman Islands operates with the philosophy that real estate is not just about “The world over, real estate agents celebrate themselves with trophies, parties, and plaques,” John adds. “Here, we celebrate the customer. That’s validation enough.”
Hands-on, high-integrity approach
Unlike larger agencies where transactions can feel impersonal, ERA Cayman Islands maintains a hands-on approach to every deal. Agents are deeply involved in the entire process, from initial consultation to closing, ensuring that clients receive not just guidance but genuine support.
“As a broker, I enjoy watching new agents become knowledgeable and confident in that knowledge, watching them find the perfect property for a client, and then continue helping that client throughout the buying process,” Jeanette explains. “That’s the kind of service that makes a difference.”
She adds that the company is very much committed to upholding the highest ethical standards. Every agent is a member of CIREBA, the governing body that ensures professionalism and transparency in Cayman’s real estate industry. This means that when clients work with ERA, they can trust they are receiving accurate information, fair representation, and honest advice.
Growth through mentorship
A key factor in ERA Cayman Islands’ success is its dedication to mentoring and developing real estate professionals. Jeanette and Robert Totten have cultivated a work environment where agents are supported, encouraged, and given the tools to thrive.
John Pohlmann’s journey within the company is a testament to this. Originally from Vail, Colorado, John had a background in luxury hospitality and real estate. When he joined ERA Cayman Islands, he was not simply handed a title — he learned every aspect of the business, from client negotiations to marketing strategies and financial transactions. With the guidance of the Tottens and the collaborative support of the ERA team, he honed his skills and earned his promotion to associate broker.
“Other than the required years in the business as mandated by CIREBA, I don’t believe there are specific credentials needed beyond the ability to be a professional business operator,” John shares. “My degree is in business, but my experience in working with discerning clientele and structuring complex deals is what really helped me earn the role.”
This emphasis on mentorship extends to every agent at ERA Cayman Islands, ensuring that the team remains knowledgeable, confident, and prepared to navigate the complexities of the Cayman property market.
Global reach, local expertise
While ERA Cayman Islands prides itself on its boutique, client-focused service, it also benefits from the strength of a global network. After operating independently as Cayman Luxury Property Group (CLPG) for 15 years, the Tottens made a strategic decision in 2019 to align with ERA Real Estate, a move that expanded the agency’s reach and resources.
“Our decision to become a franchise was rooted in the desire to offer our clients the confidence of working with a globally established brand,” Jeanette explains. “ERA is known worldwide, and that gives our clients peace of mind.”
As part of a thriving network with over 40,000 brokers and sales associates across more than 35 countries, clients who list their properties with ERA Cayman Islands benefit from global exposure while still receiving the expert, personalized service that has defined the agency for years.
As ERA Cayman Islands continues to grow, one thing remains constant: its unwavering dedication to its clients, its team, and the community it serves. Whether helping families find their dream home, guiding property investors through a high-stakes transaction, or helping shape the next generation of real estate professionals, its mission is clear—to lead with integrity, expertise, and heart.
